The Basler Zeitung reported that Migros is making imported meat cheaper. Our letter to the editor has since been printed:
The outrage about Migros imported meat is not hypocritical at all, but totally justified. Unfortunately, Migros has the power to massively increase our meat consumption by making it cheaper. And it does so even though it is aware that such a decision means lifelong fattening and a far from pleasant death in the slaughterhouse for countless additional “farmed” animals. It knows exactly how defenceless these animals are, so it would be the moral duty of a non-profit cooperative to show compassion here. Please, let’s become humane again, including Migros, including towards the animals. They are innocent and in no way deserve this outrageous pricing policy at their expense.
