An article in the WOZ of February 6, 2025 suggests that too many pigs are killing the fjord in Denmark. Here is our letter to the editor:

Of course, it is not the completely innocent pigs that are killing the fjords, as the title suggests. It is us humans who, despite decades of warnings, simply do not want to do without animal products. The scientists interviewed in the report suggest various methods for improvement, but combating the causes – i.e. giving up pork and all other animal products – is apparently not an issue. Such a renunciation would have a noble “side” effect. An end at last to the discrimination against sensitive animals, which will soon last forever and which are shamelessly exploited simply because they belong to a particular species. Twain was right: “What we have done to animals, especially since industrialization, we will never be able to make up for.”
