Circle of Compassion always organises outreach talks at its rallies. These are talks in which interested parties are approached and persuaded to adopt veganism. People are considered interested if they watch the video footage of abuses in the animal industry shown at the rally for at least 30 seconds.
The introductory question is, for example, ‘Have you ever seen images like this?’ Regardless of the answer, you could continue: ‘Are you already vegan’. If ‘no’, then the conversation turns to whether there is any justifiable difference between not exploiting pets and humans for consumption and exploiting ‘farm’ animals, even though they are just as sensitive.
Since there is no such difference, we should insist on this basic question and keep coming back to it when distracted by whataboutisms, for example. The impossibility of such a justifiable difference should then make the other person realise that only vegan is possible. Theoretically! If only it were also practically possible!
